Free Literacy Resource for Parents
What is one of the most common concerns that I hear from parents of all ages?
“How can I help my child become a better reader?”
—
“Cómo puedo ayudar a mi hijo con la lectura?”
Often parents and caregivers search for resources and strategies that they can use at home to help children become better readers. Although the world wide web has many resources, Spanish-speaking parents and caregivers feel they do not have enough access to this information, when the majority of the information is only found in English.
Reading doesn’t have to include the typical sit-down and read-a-book scenario. Reading occurs all around us!
Having your child read the McDonald’s menu? — yep, they’re reading!
The child looking and reading instructions about how to assemble their legos?–oh yeah, that’s reading!
Trying to read the terms and conditions so your child can purchase an app using your credit card?– That’s reading AND math!
The list goes on, but the problem arises when parents are unaware that incorporating reading in the home and community can be very simple and cost-effective!
This brings me to a resource that I created specifically for parents who speak Spanish. This FREE resource lists several activities they can use at home to help their children develop literacy skills at any age!
